Joan Chiang Paulin studied ballet in Jean M. Wong School of ballet and went on to intern at Hong Kong Dance Company for 6 months before moving to the United States in 1995. After graduating from SUNY Purchase in 1999 with a BFA in Dance, she joined Cortez & Company until 2002, when she joined Carolyn Dorfman Dance.
Joan has performed and worked with Pascal Rioult, Patrick Corbin, Christopher Morgan, Abby Chan, and Rosalind Newman.
After transitioning from dance to events, Joan has worked at Blue Hill in New York City, Blue Hill at Stone Barns, and Daniel Restaurant as private dining director.
Since 2014 she has been working as a contractor for World 50, a private company that provides a platform for C level executives from globally respected organizations to share experience and build relationship and to help them accelerate and stay ahead.
In 2019, Joan and her husband, Dominique opened Faubourg Restaurant in Montclair with their chef partner, Olivier Muller. Joan also takes care of the private events at the restaurant. Faubourg has won numerous awards from different New Jersey publications since opening.
Joan is a proud mom of two girls, ChloƩ and Juliette, and their four-legged baby, Archie.
