Pastorale Pause (2004)

share:

“…lyrical, youthful and effervescent…” -Recorder Newspapers

Set to a suite of Celtic music and songs by musician/composer John Whelan, this work for 5 dancers explores simple “pastoral pleasures.” Through images inspired by the mountains and meadows of the American West, Dorfman creates a journey that embraces the serenity, jubilation, sensuousness and intoxication of being at one with nature and the relationships and play it evokes. With two revolving disks, dancers create images that seem to float, evolve, dissolve. From vibrant jigs to resonant ballads, the music, and thus the dance, takes us on a joyous, thoughtful and whirling ride.

“…offering unusual sculptural perspective and introducing a nearly frictionless movement quality that may suggest the sublime grandeur of nature.” -The Star Ledger
