CHARLES SCHELAND is a New York City based dance artist. Charles grew up and trained in Germany, Austria, and the Washington DC area. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Ailey/Fordham BFA Dance program, with a double major in Dance and Economics, receiving departmental honors from both departments. He is also an alumnus of the School of Jacob’s Pillow’s Contemporary Program. He has danced for RIOULT Dance NY, Michael Mao Dance, Buglisi Dance Theater, New England Dance Theater, as well as other companies and independent choreographers. He has performed works by Alvin Ailey, Elana Anderson, Robert Battle, Clifton Brown, Amy Hall Garner, Jae Man Joo, Bill T. Jones, Jessica Lang, Michael Mao, Milton Myers, Elizabeth Roxas-Dobrish, Pascal Rioult, Henning Rübsam, Paul Taylor, to name a few. As an instructor, Charles teaches ballet, Horton technique, and is a demonstrator for Milton Myers. This is Charles’ first season with Carolyn Dorfman Dance.
