Carolyn Dorfman Dance returns to NJPAC with the world premiere of Jazz Legends and the Power of NOW! as part of the TD Moody Jazz Festival. This performance features innovative choreography by Carolyn Dorfman and Juel D. Lane, a live musical performance by jazz violinist extraordinaire Regina Carter (co-commissioned by NJPAC), and choreography set to the vibrant jazz recordings of trumpet legend Louis Prima. With virtuosity, speed and depth, these artists take you on a heart-pounding roller coaster ride of life’s journeys—resulting in pure joy.
NEW – Following the show, you’re invited to a special post-performance party with Carolyn, Regina, the dancers, and our honorees. Enjoy light refreshments and jazz music by Regina’s former students, all alumni of the NJPAC’s Geri Allen Jazz Camp, which she directs.
Throughout our 40th Anniversary Season, we will be recognizing those whose business acumen, hard-work, dedication, and creativity have contributed to our longevity and success. On November 16th, we will honor and celebrate with Michael Wolansky, our long-serving financial auditor since 1986, and Anna-Alisa Belous, our exquisitely talented costume designer since 2010.
