About NJ SummerDance
A One-Week Dance Intensive, Ages 13 – Adult.
Immerse yourself in the world of contemporary dance and the dynamic art, artists and processes of Carolyn Dorfman Dance.
Daily classes are offered in modern/contemporary technique, repertory, partnering, Pilates, Body Therapies, and workshops with renowned guest artists.
Join our inner circle through daily meetings with the company. The week culminates in a performance featuring all participants and the Carolyn Dorfman Dance company.
Tuition:
- Early Bird Rate (Before June 15th): $350
- Regular Rate (After June 15th): $375
Need-based scholarships are available on a first come, first served bases.

Pre-Professional/Professional Track
Designed to give serious dance students a rigorous study in modern dance technique and repertory with lead company members and Carolyn Dorfman. Includes performing excerpts of Dorfman’s ingenious and bold repertory on Friday, August 17, 2018.

Open Level/Community Track
A dance lover’s dream – no audition required! Open level classes in various dance techniques, Pilates and partnering, where students get a chance to work at their own pace. Includes participation in the culminating performance on Friday, August 17, 2018. Registration is open until all slots are filled.
Professional Development for Teachers

Audition Video Requirements for Pre-Professional/Professional Track
Please submit a 2-3 minute video of you in performance, rehearsal and/or studio work and demonstrate:
• Your technical training
• Performance quality
• Your ability to move through space, on the floor, and in the air
• Both sustained and quick movement
Additional video requirements:
• Make sure the recording is of good quality so that we can see you clearly enough to evaluate your skills.
• Clearly identify yourself in the clip if you are not the only dancer
• The clip should be no more that 1 year old
Upload to Youtube or a password protected Vimeo account. Email the exact web address, password (if applicable), and your name and contact information to njsummerdance@carolyndorfman.dance.
Scholarship Application
A limited number of need-based scholarships are available on a first-come, first served basis. All application materials must be received by June 15, 2018. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
To apply for a scholarship, please submit the following:
1) Completed registration form Click here to register online, or click here to download.
2) A short essay describing the impact this program will have on your growth as a dancer and as a person.
3) A letter of recommendation from a dance teacher, guidance counselor, and/or community leader.

Drop-In Classes
Select individual classes are available at a rate of $30 per class. Pre-registration is not required.
